Local Economic Development

More than 300 million Indians live in poverty, with 75% of these people in rural areas, and more than two-thirds of this population depends on agriculture – mostly at a small scale or subsistence – for its livelihood. Diversification of income, as well as the creation of opportunities for advancement of communities is necessary to lift them out of poverty.

TNSIF Approach

TNS India Foundation’s work in local economic development (LED) aims to catalyze economic growth in specific geographic areas where significant opportunities for transformative economic impact are not present across a single value chain or industry. We have developed an approach to address the needs of individuals across various sectors to strengthen their business management capacity, boost productivity and efficiency, and improve their access to markets and finance.
